Autism-friendly Technology

See on Scoop.it - Psychology Matters

MANILA, Philippines — Many parenting experts have long spoken of the ills of exposing children to too much electronic visual stimuli — like television and computers. But progressive education proponents are also challenging today’s parents to open their minds to the possibility that the next generation will face a school environment very different from ours. The learning environment of the future will be enriched with integrated photos and video teaching aides, instant access to latest research and interaction across vast distances.

Flipping Lab Science with Remote Labs | Digital Learning Environments

See on Scoop.it - Studying Teaching and Learning

“There’s a growing interest in “flipping the classroom” to support differentiated instruction, allowing students to explore and learn at their own pace, and for buying time to do more project-based learning in class. It’s a simple idea that I first heard from a Virginia Tech engineering professor about 8 years ago when he called it “turning the classroom right side up”. Whatever you call it, the principle is the same – save class time for the most important “live interaction” activities, and assign everything else as homework.” …

“Now the same idea can be applied to lab science…”

Opening up education for new technologies – changing teaching and learning through ICT | New Europe

See on Scoop.it - Studying Teaching and Learning

“ICT impacts on education in many ways. Access to satisfactory ICT infrastructure is of course a pre-requisite. PISA 2009, the Programme for International Student Assessment which evaluates education systems worldwide by testing the skills and knowledge of 15-year-olds, found that at least 50% of students in Europe were in schools where one computer is available for every two students – a significant improvement in comparison to 2000, when there were between 25 and 90 students per computer. Having said that, infrastructure needs a suitable framework and new curricula need to be developed to ensure successful use of the technological means.”
